Diagnosing ED

As a general rule, you should not rely on a website to make a diagnosis of any medical condition. Nothing replaces a consultation with your regular primary care provider. Your medical records are to hand and a physical examination will help make a proper assessment of your problem.

Since there’s clear evidence showing ED as a first symptom of heart disease, you should always have a full physical check-up. It’s not worth taking risks with your health.

How Cialis, Viagra and Levitra help to treat ED

When your brain recognizes a situation of sexual stimulation, it sends a chemical messenger to the penis. This triggers the dilation of the smooth muscles in the walls of the artery leading into the penis. As more blood flows inside, it’s absorbed by some spongy tissue. As this tissue swells, the erection forms.

When sexual activity is over, the muscles in the arteries contract and the excess of blood flows out of the penis. In this, the key chemical messenger is called PDE5. If it appears at the wrong time, the erection fails. Viagra, Cialis and Levitra prevent your body from producing PDE5. This allows the natural cycle of sex go through to completion with a full erection.

ED quiz: assess you ED level

There’s nothing to worry about if you just have one night of poor performance. It happens. But when is the situation bad enough to justify going to see your doctor? Here’s a quick questionnaire to give you guidance. You might find it useful to print this page out and take it with you for the consult.

This site does not store your answers. Your privacy is guaranteed.

Mark the answers that most closely apply to you.

Total the scores and the scale will tell you whether your ED is mild, moderate or severe.

Think back over the last six months. By giving answers, you are confirming a reasonably consistent number of attempts at sexual intercourse.

Your score: {{Score}}

1-7 8-11 12-16 17-21 22-25
severe moderate mild to moderate mild no ED

If your score suggests you have moderate to severe ED, you should make an appointment to see your doctor. Should ED be confirmed, you can then discuss how best to approach treatment.
